Raleigh Grifter
« on: March 01, 2010, 07:52 PM »
One of the bikes that some kids tryed to use like a BMX, just before BMX hit UK.  I remember seeing a grifter in bmx action mag that had been converted to be a BMX - think it had flights on  :LolLolLolLol: and that - probly worth more than the whole bike.  Anyone on here done a grifter mod to BMX?  I have an old grifter - Id like to mod mine.  I talked to someone today who said you could get bmx forks for a grifter BITD - must be rare as.  Anyways any help would be great, cheers.

Hi

A few lads in our village had bmx forks on grifters, I think they are a 5" headtube, with a std 1" thread, there were some tange 5" ers on ebay a week or two ago, didn't some redlines have 5" head tubes?

I also remember that one in action bike, It had had loads of welding too, must've weighed in at 40 pounds!!!, apparently though, they had good race geometry!!

had many grifters over  the years, love them, but not as a bmx!!

Before I had my ruffel signiture raleigh I had a hand me down bike that was my brothers before his falcon pro beta, it looked abit like a grifter but was metallic green, had a massive seat and big wide metal mud guards. Anybody know what it was I was only tiny then, think it was called a stiker or stryker or something like that?

A fella on burnerworld had some new looking 20" BMX forks with an extra long steering tube, far longer than a grifter needs, which could be cut down to fit, said he knew where to get more, his username on there is pjgoose69.

I remember having a ramp up a curb in the gargaes behind my house. I can vaguely remember the noise and feel of the bike, clunk clunk.
