pro neck II

got a PRO NECK II and was wondering how they came - as mine has lines on the top part - bottom has lines as well but not so deep (see pic's below)

also noticed that it seems to have a crack in to places on the top half - not going to be ridden hard but is there a danger of it going - any one had this happen ?

so back to the lines - if not normal, would this have been done for some one to get more grip if standing on it ? - should i sand down to a flat surface to polish or polish as is with the lines there ?

Original finish is that.  crack cause by overtightening - can be repaired with alloy welding, talk to SteveP my mate repaired his one and it came out mint, Steve even refinished in the original finish

like marty said,the lines are the og finish,the flat or chrome ones you often see for sale have been polished up to look like that
