Well, for an 80's build, I would always go for a Sugino 1 piece, as that's how most were riden...but single pinch-bolt Flights look the nuts also. Depends how deep your pockets are...

I'm with Stodgy on this one - depends what year. If it's an early one any old school 1pc, single pinch flights or early box profiles. If it's a late 80's one, you could try for some GT Power series 3pc cranks. The GT-Profiles are really nice cranks, but better for mid-new school stuff. If you do want GT-Profiles and Flaz can't help you out, PM me :daumenhoch:

Cheers fellers. I reckon I'll go with the single piece option. Not just because it's cheaper although that helps, but because by the sounds of it, they will be more era specific. I don't like putting parts on a bike just because they're are the most expensive.

Thanks for the offers though Flaz & Moose.  :daumenhoch:

Cheers

Guy  :)

Guy,
If you are going to use 1-pc then I am pretty sure that most GT full bikes including the Performer used SR 1-pc cranks as standard.
I have managed to get a pair for my Performer build :)

Hey Nosnod, you're absolutely correct. Early complete GT's were spec'd with SR 1pc cranks.

Are you going for a completely standard build? If you are, good luck with the pedals ;)

Not going for totally standard, I just build them how I like them mostly.

I got Jazzchimps yellow frameset & bars, and I'm using blue components on it. Should be pretty sweet.  :)

Steve, I know you're only kidding but I gotta be honest bud, I don't even like Aerospeeds. You gonna spash out on a set for your Fiola ?

I'm with you on the Aerospeeds Guy . . . I don't like them much either  ???

I'm fitting a Sugino one-piece to my Fiola and Flights to the chrome one

Cheers

I used to have some till about '94-5. Ditched 'em pretty quick as the allen-bolt holes were all pretty rounded. Nice to have for the sake of authenticity (if you can stomach the price), but I think some Powerbites are what I'd be looking at if I was building a rider.
