Haro Gen 1 info.....
« on: March 28, 2006, 09:26 AM »
As some of you know, I'm working on trying to decipher the serial numbers of Haro Gen 1 freestylers and I need the following information to try and prove a theory:

What month did the Freestyler go on general sale (not just in the UK)?

What month did the Haro Master go on general sale?

What month did the Haro Sport go on general sale?

It's OK - I've decided to 'publish' my theory anyway.

Here's my theory along with possible (rough) production numbers. Slow to begin with - then increased because of demand - tailing off near the introduction of the Master - then the Master in small numbers to begin with - introduction of the Sport - switch to 2nd Gen of Master/Sport July/August '84?

It's only my opinion based on the numbers I've collected. There do appear to be anomilies, but these need to be confirmed (TOO 1515 F I suspect may be TQQ 1515 F)

I have no idea,  although it may make sense - if your list starts in 82, i have a TSS that I recall picking up in the summer, so that must have been 83 (not 82) - so manufactured in April - shipped and 2 months or so later.

 - I have PDF's of the Haro Catalogues from 84--> 88  Unfortunately these do not mention the month they were introduced.  If you do not have these, and want a copy let me know and I will send them

Cheers

Does anybody have one of the very first f/f which had a gap instead of welding between the bottom of the gusset and head tube ?

I know what you're thinking and you're wrong.

Purely based on numbers and 'fitting in' the sequence. Highly possible I'm wrong (in fact most likely) :-\

Only the very first ones were like that as they tended to crack between the gusset and head tube. When mine did I got my local bike shop to send it back to Gecko`s, who were the distributors then, so I would get a replacement, however they just welded it up and sent it back  :(

Yep , early 85 .........but they are a strange frame , no serial numbers ,no chevrons , and nearly the same back end as the torker 2nd gen masters , so don't know if they were taiwan or usa ???

Ive still got it ....
