LH or RH?
« on: January 27, 2010, 10:44 PM »
Ive asked this before but cant find the post.

If you only run a back brake do you use RH or LH lever?  I know its personal preference, but what is peoples fave side to use for rear only set up?

The correct way , i.e bike shop way is left hand lever = rear brake

Although most  of U.S riders seemed to have right hand , maybe thats a american thang  ::)

if you're right handed using a rear only you would have it on the right. but if you 're not then
who knows,personal preference really.

I've just finished my first build and am only running a rear, I went L/H as this is the usual side for a rear if you are running 2 brakes.

If I'm only using a rear brake: RH.

If I'm using a front and rear brake: Front= RH, Rear= LH

Anything else feels wrong.

For me a rear brake is always on the left whether its the only brake or not

R/H rear is an american thing I think...I've done it for looks but it doesn't feel right to me

Right hand for rear, left hand for front - allways been the same for me and still is even on my road and mountain bikes  :daumenhoch:

R/H = rear, just because I'm right-handed  :)

Thanks guys, I know its all about personal preference, but I wanted to make sure I wasnt comitting some terrible faux pa!

I tend to run front = RH, rear = LH so i'll stick with that side for my rear only set up.

Keeping my back brake on the left has stopped me flipping my motorbike twice now, when it's come up by accident, that bmx wheelie instint has the clutch in double quick (my right foot is useless and can't remember it has a brake under it)  ;D
Why oh why do I still buy kids bikes!
