Cant you weigh each wheel and compare the weight against a normal tuff,

as i believe the graphite just means they are lighter

Already been done a few months back...they are marginally lighter.

Gonna get shot done for this but I prefer the chrome/metal look to the gold.  As a rule I don't like gold components on my bikes I think they look a bit...tacky  >:D

I know they're maybe not for purists but there you go!

Mike D and other factory/sponsored riders could get what they want, sure Jay said Dominguez had his own Hubs coloured by himself...don't quote me though.

You can clearly see that in wheels two and three that the annodising has been removed, theres marks left by some sort of abrasive  ;)

Like I said personally I think the gold looks tacky...gold ano on bikes is like fake bling to me. :idiot2:

Besides the point tho - wheel 3 was de-annod by me so my polishing skills obviously need work  :LolLolLolLol:. In my defence though that hub is bolted on and since I had a front which was bare metal I didn't want a mix n match chrome front and gold rear...yeuch.  Wheel 2 came to me like that and I dunno about the ano being removed...maybe but like you guys I'm not sure why someone would when the wheel is otherwise near perfect...strange.

I think its still possible that you could get em like this from the off..sounds like skyway did a few specials back then and didn't always stick to the rule book.   In my head these are now even rarer than common or garden graphs  :D

...might consider a swap for some tacky gold campy hub jobs tho ;)

I saw a pic in maybe Freestylin' or BMX Action and Mike D's hubs did look painted to me, the rivets were blue also.

My mate done his red tuffs gold on his goose in the 80's with metalic gold marker...looked great from about 40 yards :LolLolLolLol:

Are you sure they had Graphite stamped on them? I know I bought one, so tomorrow I can pop in the garage and try and find it.

100% yes, I bought a couple of sets but they went on wheels/builds that are long gone.  Wish he still sold them as they are handy things to have.  You might as well dig yours out anyway to see if yours are the same.

i had a single front graphite couple of years back,

was original silver colour, graphite stamped in the hub, and gn serial in the correct place.

Was deff untouched and hadnt had a hub replacement.

The previous seller was either the 1st or 2nd owner, and mentioned Skyway Pro's who were given them, could ask for gold or Natural silver.

I sold it, as prefer the gold all day long.

Blue hubs ?

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!'

I have a NOS hub in silver with Graphite stamped in.

I did here that the skyway team used graphites with silver hubs so they looked like regular tuffs, the Graphites were mega money back then.

Cool, I've been looking for some Skyway team graphites for a while now, they definetly made Graphites with the silver graphite Hubs, I helped restore a set some years ago, let me know if you ever want to sell  ;) ::).
Mike Dominguez told me he actually just painted his hubs blue himself, Skyway did do a few different things with tuffs though, Rich Sigur ran blue tuffs with silver graphite (campy II ) hubs in and i've seen quite a few sets of white with gold graphite hubs in, most of the early Haro team ran these, Bob Haro, Ron Wilton, Rich Sigur, etc.
