carefully lift the grip a touch from the bars and spray some wd40 down  ( the small cans come with an applicator straw if you still havin probs use this ) careful with them as they can split those odi's

lift up as much as you can and work a bit of washing-up liquid under, then twist it around until the washing up liquid gets everywhere under the grip.

I took some off this weekend when I swapped the bars on my TA.  Very carefully take a small screwdriver and ease it down the end of the grip to open up a small opening in which you can push the WD40 straw.  Push the straw down as far as you can and spray the WD in and sort of squeeze the grips to try to move the WD round in between the grip and the bar.

The grip should start to release and as soon as it does it will easily slide off the bars.  You have no chance of pulling them straight off.  Just keep adding more WD if its proving difficult.  Eventually they will just slide off.

Just be careful with the screwdriver when pushing it under the grip.  Ive done it loads of times and never damages the grips or scratched the bars.

I went and got myself an insulin syringe ... the needle is mega mega small .. squirt in some soapy water in 2-3 locations around the grip and it comes off straight away .. you cant see any holes, especially if you put it in on the edge of the pattern

Next time I go for a chinese i'm swiping a few... :4_17_5: :LolLolLolLol:

I recently bought a bike that I broke for parts and the grips were just cheap yellow mushroom copies that were rotten.  It was just a joy just to take a knife to them, rather than piss about with WD40... :)

Right on a more serious note here's how you do it.

Safest way to remove grips with no hassle and zero chance of damaging the grips or bars is to use a bicycle pump with one of those little yellow plastic cone adaptors.

Simply attach the adaptor to the end of the pump

[/img]

and place the adaptor into the end of the grip where the little hole is.

[/img]

Now place your finger over the other hole and and start pumping.

If you've done it right the grip will slide off with zero effort. Now do the same on the other grip but this time place your hand over the end of the bar itself. Again the grip will simply slide off.

Easy peasy.

alternatively you can put boiling water in a tall cup/mug/travel mug and insert the grip/bars into the water...
Soak for a mo then extract from the water...
and pull the grips off with a gloved hand (cos the grip is gonna be hot)

i like si's idea with the pump.
might try that in a min just for the sake of it  :D.

trouble is mushys aint got a hole in the end. so the wd40 is the way to go.
