So I recently put out a call for a black used and abused Kashi Aero as I had plans to follow Steve P's lead and do a full on leather resto.  Daletsunami (cheers  :daumenhoch:) kindly answered my call with a suitably scuffed and marked Raleigh branded black Aero here:

Quick scout round the shops this morning looking for materials I come up trumps in our local tesco who were selling off a range of fine (large) black leather handbag's at £8 a pop (down from £15 ;)).  After getting the bag home I cut it up to leave me with enough leather to cover four seats if necessary (fortunately I acheived this on the second attempt leaving me two more if required).

Aero decal (remains of a Kashimax Aero decal I got off Del at MK08 that I just wanted the Kashimax bit off) is just for effect as im gonna get another set.  I also used the PAT.P K.S.M guts that came with this seat on my red leather (original) Kashi on my TA and used these 'gold' coloured ones on this as they will match the decals better.

Unfortunately I couldnt save the chrome rails so they are now mat black (though might get some chrome spray next time im in the DIY store).

Hope you like:

Nice save. :daumenhoch:  I'd stick with the black rails too as that chrome effect paint is rubbish.   It doesn't cure properly and if you handle the painted object, it ends up up turning in to a dull grey mess. :(

Cheers ma dears.  Really chuffed with how this turned out.

Looked for the bag on tesco website, couldnt find it, must be an end of line or summat.  Got a few funny looks in the shop but just told meself I was buying it for my missus as a present and it didnt feel so wrong!

Mind you when I got in and showed the missus, she thought I had bought her a present. Then I proceeded to cut it up...lol

Will try to get underneath pics tomorrow Daz, its not as tidy as Steve P's (dont know how he did it, as the leather rucks up) but in fairness it is tidier than my genuine 80's leather kashi so not all bad...lol

Andy just glue, no staples Gary.  Used that Evo Stick contact adhesive, worked a treat afte I realised you had to leave it to almost dry before you stick it.

Looks lovely on the Rebel racer :4_17_5:

here we go Daz, not as tidy as Steves, and the seat was already a bit mucky.  Need to clean the dried glue off now (even though it'll never be seen).

Think my material might be thicker as there was no way it was laying as flat as Steves.  And my rails look rough as fook, but didnt spend that long on em cos at the time I didnt know if i'd fook up the covering.

Saying that though, as I said earlier its still tidier than my genuine leather Kashimax.
