DP Firebird Freestyler (pic heavy)
« on: January 07, 2010, 02:33 PM »
I have mentioned this story before but just incase you didn't know...............

I got back into this BMX thing again wanting a firebird freestyler which I never owned BITD.

I thought I would be able to pick one up for a tenner, but after a few months of searching ebay and finding RAD I realised that they were few and far between and I wasn't going to get one for a tenner. With the few bikes coming through slowly going up in price I finally took the plunge on a badly listed bike for about £180.

When it came to the build, the only musts were:

1. It had to have some bright 80's colour skyways

2. It had to have a front brake cable going through the stem bolt-I found out after it was called a potts mod

I have a limited knowledge of period parts and the build didn't have to look factory correct- white etc

I thought I might strip the paint and then paint it myself with spray cans like we used to do back in the day but the nitromous was taking forever and I soon realised that to paint it well would cost too much andso the parts went over to SBD :coolsmiley:

I finally got everything together with plenty of help from Del who I discovered lives 20 mins away.

He did a top job on some custom  colour decals to match the paint :daumenhoch:

Been waiting for a good day to get some quality pics but couldn't wait any longer, the pics probably don't do the colours justice :daumenhoch:

Thats a well nice build.

SBD dun dunnit again with some lovely painting work...

The only thing I'd change would be white to black tyres... IMO

You gonna ride it then  :smitten:
