Unstamped OS GT post markings
« on: January 07, 2010, 04:41 PM »
Can anyone help?  I have a nice long chrome seat post that I took off a bike previously owned by Steve Bigland (Rebel factory rider).  The chrome is pretty shot, but it has what looks like the remnants of a GT roundel on it.  As a result im thinking it is an unstamped GT post, and consdering it came off a riders bike there is every chance.

Can anyone tell me exactly what markings were on a GT post around the 'insert to' level?  If its GT i'll get it rechromed.

A photo so I can compare would be awesome :daumenhoch:

i was only talking today with munners about this. i got a gt post on a survivor and it had no markings on at all. all it had was what was left of the round sticker. the edges of each end are smooth and rounded. hope this helps mate.

Is that on a straight post or a lay back?

LAYBACK MATE.  ;)

IVE BEEN OVER NICKS TONIGHT AND HE HAS 2 GT UNSTAMPED LAYBACKS AND MINE IS THE SAME AS HIS IN LENGTH AND ANGLE OF LAYBACK MATE. NO MARKINGS ANYWHERE AND THE ENDS ARE SMOOTH/ROUNDED. I DONT KNOW THE TECHNICAL WORD FOR IT!  :LolLolLolLol:

Heres a few piccies.  You can clearly see the GT sticker remains, other than that it says CR-MO - MIN INSERT - 22.2 and underneath it says 92.10.

Could it be an Oct 92 GT post?

I am lead to believe that the ends on the straight posts are finished the same as the laybacks,as donkeybambam described :daumenhoch: therefore yours wouldn't be a GT bud :(
