Didn't you see the 1973 DS (don smith) Springer Tony?

Twin shock rear end with motorcycle style forks!!!

What you have to bear in mind though was that even top end motocross motorcyles had twin shock set up in 1975, that Redline was at least 5 years ahead of its time in motorcycle terms but 20 years ahead of its time in suspension bicycles!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The bike that Rick has shared with you is a brilliant piece of BMX history. It is a timepiece of the true beginnings. We already had the basic 'sting ray' 20" bicycle. Schwinn, Huffy, Royse Union etc...

What Rick has here is what you get when Lynn Kastan (owner of Redline, a Company that was already making motorcyle racing components) decides to make a bicycle that kids could ride and imitate motorcycles.

Nope! Stu's 'Monster Mono', as we call it, was built 2 to 3 years after the Redline. Stu designed it and Gary Turner (GT) welded it up for him. Below is a picture of it as it sits now. There are several pictures on my thread of me jumping it.

You got that right! I was in possession of that bike for a few years and it was THE most fun I had on a 'solo' bike. (Flying my hack down our downhills is a lot of fun also!)

This is one of my favorite pictures while riding that bike.

Cool pic Dennis and definately one of the maddest bikes I've ever seen

One thing I've noticed on these early suspension bikes is they don't have chain tensioners, did they have a problem with the chain coming off (as it must slacken up when the suspension compresses).
