Tip! I notice a few of us have got the same Raleigh stands from Halfords but the way they make them is that the cross bar that holds the frame is perfectly horizontal, where the top tube of the frame isn't. So the front wheel dips down, by how much determined by how steep your top tube is. For some bikes it can be quite extreme, with the front wheel about a foot lower than the back and tbh make it look shit.

To sort it......Grind the bolt off that holds the arm to the bracket.  While your at it you can chop up to 2 inches off the length of them arm, any more the front tyre won't turn freely without hitting the wall.  It'll make the bike sit closer to the wall and take up less room space.

Now to position it to suit the bike. Put some masking tape around the arm where you need to drill it to fit back in the bracket. Place the bike on the floor by a wall so it's in its natural position. 2 people make the next bit easier....

Put them arm part on the frame as if its in its hanging position on the wall. Then place the bracket in its correct place on the arm and hold it all against the wall. Poke a pen through the holes on bracket and mark either side on the masking tape.

Now...drill your marks in the arm, a 7mm drill bit should do it.

Fix the bracket where you want it on the wall, and don't presume the the bracket sits in the centre of the bike - it doesn't! If you want the bike to be perfectly centred on the wall do a dummy run and take some measurements before drilling.  I think a 10mm drill bit is needed for those wall plugs, if not 12mm, not done one in a while, but it'll say on the packet.  When the bracket part is secure on the wall bolt the arm to it with a M6 x 40mm bolt, get a nyloc nut to stop it getting lose if your really paranoid.

Plonk your bike on, get some flowers for your mrs and wait for the bollocking when she gets in. Or just say "fook off and sleep down your mothers if you don't like it". I'm not taking any responsibilty for the last bit.   :yahoo_silent:
