Stripping paint off powder coat??
« on: December 21, 2009, 02:26 PM »
Anyone know what products can strip paint off powder coat without harming the PC? I rattle canned my old Kink back in the day over the powder coat and would like to restore it a little before it gets mounted on the wall....would acetone do it?

Also can I polish powder coat e.g. rub it down with some super light wet and dry, then autosol and wax?

Cheers

Does T-cut affect powder coat? If not it might be just the job. Anyone else care to chime in?

try brasso (the stuff in the bottle not in a tin with wadding)

It has a solvent in it and a very slight abrasive (try it in an area that wont be seen first)

Pop SuperBikeDan a PM, he is the powdercoat King on here. But to be honest might be easier, and quicker to strip to bare metal and re-powder. You will be surprised that once you have a close look at the frame how many chips and marks there are.
