What's the best stuff and method (machine, hand etc) to use when polishing something like a stem?

Where's Neil when you need him?

start with Oven Pride/Caustic Soda to remove any anodising, then work through the grades of wet and dry, 400, 800, 1200 then 2000 and Autosol to give it a mirror polish. Using a bench mop or drill mounted mop can really help getting the mirror finish.

neil...........what about autoglym metal polish? i've found it to be a better and easier way than autosol just lately.have you tried it?

sorry i should say i never use autosol now i only use peek and clothed brasso , as i use glue base polish on my machine mops so i dont need any cut .
