1980 mongoose (red and black) FINISHED
« on: December 19, 2009, 05:11 PM »

Right then - I was gonna build something else this month but with chritstmas coming fast I went for a slightly easier build option

So you may have seen this in the for sale section recently :

Well I actually sold those lesters to stfc about a year ago so it was time for them to come home   :LolLolLolLol:

I wanted a few bits off the bike but the split wasn't on and the price complete was keen so I went for it  :)

Anyways a bit of mongoose OCD kicked in and I had to make some changes ! :-[

I went about my tweeks and changed :

the forks
the bars
the headset
the stem
the grips
the seat
the seat post clamp
the pedals

added some pads,

removed an incorrect decal,

re-postioned another decal,

and now she looks like this......................

Full parts spec:

1980 mongoose frame powdered red
NOS chrome tange/mongoose forks
black mongoose steel bars
NOS original Winners Circle stamped grips
original mongoose gold stem with survivor decal
mongoose stamped headset
mongoose stamped BB
mongoose stamped snowflake chainring
mongoose stamped crank
NOS black rat traps
Red lester mags with original survivor paint finish
NOS Cheng Shin C183 knobblies fat/thin combo
mongoose messinger seat
stainless steel post
mongoose stamped seat clamp
NOS mongoose part-padset (stem pad has the original $1.99 price sticker inside  ;D )

 :)

Very nice, Now how is she standing? Cant see any kind of stand or glass under the pedal. Or has it been photoshopped out?
Another side note looking at the pic of the grip it looks like the pattern that Shadow Conspiracy use, Good design lasts decades.

I like that, like it a lot. Real roots-y(?) looking, you can imagine a kid knocking about on it in the Californian sunshine. In a scene in CHiPS.  :daumenhoch:

Same trusty pint glass I always use - the cold ground meant it didn't fill with condensation like it usually does so it stayed clear and less visible - you can just make it out in the background under the pedal in the close up pic of the front wheel and forks  :)

Do you have another project that you can use those Ashtabula forks on? 8)

Oh yes  ;)
