i would have done exactly the same, minted it all up...

just turn the top of the stem around so the diamond back faces the rider.....

Nice... but shouldnt the stem top be the other way round?

yeah does look wrong!!, but is correct, its shaped to fit round the bolt area, so only goes on this way, very strange!.
